Move Well Eat Well Refresh Updates

We are refreshing Move Well Eat Well!

A lot has changed since MWEW started working with Tasmanian primary schools and early childhood services. The past decade has brought new challenges for schools and services in supporting children to eat well and move well. We are working with educators to develop new ideas to meet these challenges.

How are we using the Refresh to improve the MWEW program?

We are conducting the Refresh to improve the MWEW program by:

  • aligning with current evidence, research and strategic priorities
  • streamlining the program processes
  • increasing program flexibility
  • increasing equity to address specific barriers faced by schools, services and CFLCs
  • refreshing the branding and appeal of the program

Be part of the MWEW Refresh!

This is your opportunity to contribute to the future of children’s nutrition and physical activity in Tasmanian schools and services.

We really value your input and want to learn from your experiences.

Your contribution will help MWEW better meet the needs of educators and support positive health outcomes for Tasmanian children.

Consultations

Snapshot survey: March - April

You are invited to contribute to our state-wide survey on nutrition and physical activity in Tasmanian primary schools and early childhood services.

The survey is open to current staff of primary schools and early childhood services in Tasmania.

We are seeking one participant from your school or service to complete the survey. Ideally this person is in a leadership position or has knowledge of nutrition and physical activity across your whole school/service setting. *

By completing the survey your school/service can enter the draw to receive one of 25 Modern Teaching Aids $50 vouchers for schools OR one of 25 $50 Modern Teaching Aids vouchers for services.

The survey is available online via Survey Monkey in March-April 2024.  It takes 8 minutes to complete and is entirely confidential.

Your responses will help to improve the MWEW program so we can better meet the needs of schools and services across the state.

For more information, please see our Participant Information page

Please click on the survey link relevant to your current work sector.

*Please note – only one survey response per school/service can be accepted.

Face-to-face interviews: April - June

MWEW is inviting face-to-face conversations with staff across the state about their experience of physical activity and nutrition at their school or service.  We are keen to learn more about the value of nutrition and physical activity in your setting and how MWEW can support you in the future.

Interviews will be informal conversations conducted by two MWEW staff members and can be in person or online. Between 1-4 people can attend the interview session held at your school or service or online for 30-45mins.

  • handouts, booklets, templates or guides to support staff
  • curriculum and teaching ideas.

Professional learning may include:

  • face to face sessions

Share Your Story

Inspire and ignite curiosity in others by sharing a story from your school or service about physical activity or nutrition. Hearing about challenges and creative solutions from others can be a great way to motivate peers to give something a try and provide new opportunities for children. We invite you to share your story with us so we can help celebrate your ideas.

Some suggestions include:

  • A small daily routine in your classroom that has benefited children’s physical activity or nutrition.
  • A practice or policy that has led to culture change which benefits children’s health.
  • Something student led or initiated that has had an impact on the health of others.
  • An activity or event that impacted student’s health and wellbeing involving parents or the wider community.
  • A nutrition or physical activity challenge your school or service is working on, the steps you have taken so far and reflections on how it is going.

Share your story by sending us an email.
