Health Promoting School or Service criterion

Health Promoting School - promotes classroom learning, a sustainable commitment to children's health and wellbeing and partnerships with families to support a healthy school environment.

This criterion ties activities, polices and practices together and promotes a sustainable approach for the whole school community.

Primary Schools

To meet this criterion, the school needs to:

  • Have a whole school curriculum outline which reflects the Tasmanian Curriculum standards (or relevant non government standards) and encourages healthy eating and physical activity, both during and outside of school hours.
  • Ensure the Move Well Eat Well Award criteria are included within policy and planning documents endorsed by the school association or council, as appropriate.
  • Have a strategy to ensure families are informed of the school's healthy eating and physical activity policies and initiatives, and provided with information to assist them to support them.
