Nature Play Stories from Services
The below services were eligible to go into the draw for a Wet Weather Play Set because they each have a policy that meets the ‘Move Play and Go’ criteria. They were lucky enough to be drawn as winners and received their packs in April to tie in with Nature Play Week.
These are their stories of how they have been using their sets:
Giggles Early Learning
The experiences children have for outdoor play vary depending on what nature and the environment offer on the day and in the moment, we value outdoor play everyday at Giggles.
While some children at the service own these valuable clothing items (gumboots and waterproof pants) already, not all do and this has given each child the opportunity to stay dryer when outdoors. Infants go outside as well at our service and the items have assisted them to stay warm and dry.
Some uses have been when engaged in outdoor, sand and water play.
Children are able to pull on the items independently and we have them available for the children to gather if they wish. They are easily sponged clean and air dry.
Milpara Discovery Early Learning Centre
The children at Milpara have enjoyed wearing the wet weather gear. The day they received their set was a perfect day to head outside and jump in the puddles.
The service has also used the sets for their 'bush camp' excursions. Bush Camp offers a weekly opportunity for children to explore and engage in the natural environment.
Milpara Educators have said that the rainbow boots have been very popular with the children.
